                                                                                 Full Itinerary:

Day 1 –June 9: Johannesburg – 1st Test match

Arrive early morning on overnight flight from London.  Transfer to accommodation and relax before departing to Ellis Park for the first test match between England and the Springboks.  After the game enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and then return to your accommodation. Guesthouse in Johannesburg.


Day 2 – June 10: Panorama Route

After breakfast we make our way down to the famed Panorama Route east of Johannesburg taking in some of the remarkable scenic highlights of the mighty Drakensberg escarpment. We will stop and visit the viewpoints of God’s window, the impressive Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the Blyde River Canyon. It is a very relaxed and scenic day. Overnight at our lodge in Graskop.


Day 3  – June 11 :  Kruger National Park

We make our way into South Africa’s premier National Park and start our safari in one of the planet’s best wildlife areas. Here we will hope to spot all of the major mammals, birds and reptiles. It will be a private safari in our own vehicle. If you would like the option to do a night drive or another drive in an open vehicle, this can be arranged at an additional expense. Overnight at a camp in the Kruger.


Day 4 – June 12: Kruger National Park

A full day in the Kruger to explore the magic of this wildlife sanctuary and a chance to spot the Big Five. Overnight at a camp inside the Kruger.


Day 5 – June 13: Kruger to Badplaas

In the morning we will drive through Kruger taking the last opportunity to spot some of the more elusive animals. We exit around lunch time and make our way to town of Badplaas renowned for it’s hot mineral springs. Here we have time to relax and can enjoy the beautiful warm mineral baths. Hotel in Badplaas.


Day 6 – June 14: The Battlefields of Kwazulu Natal

In the morning we make our way through to Zululand and in the afternoon we learn all about the history of the Anglo-Zulu wars with a visit to the battle site of Isandlwana and or, with time permitting, to Rorkes Drift Museum as well. Overnight at a lodge in Dundee.

 

Day 7 – June 15: Golden Gate National Park

We leave Zululand and make our way up the escarpment on a very scenic drive to the Golden Gate National Park. Here we have an opportunity to stretch our legs and walk around the area to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Overnight Clarens.


Day 8 – June 16: Bloemfontein 2nd  Test Match

In the morning we take a leisurely 3 hour drive to Bloemfontein. Arriving just before lunch and settling into our accommodation and then it is off to the Free State Stadium to watch the 2nd test match between the Boks and England. After we will have dinner at a local restaurant and return to our accommodation.


Day 9 – June 17:  To Oudtshoorn

A long drive today through the Great Karoo, a beautiful and vast semi-desert area with sweeping views and then the Cape Fold mountains ranges of the Witteberge and Swartberg Mountains come into view. Cutting through the Swartberg Mountains we drive a pass that follows a river course, the amazing rock features and geology is quite remarkable and we will stop to take it all in. Overnight in the Oudtshoorn area and enjoy the wonderful Karoo hospitality.


Day 10 – June 18: Oudtshoorn

A nice relaxed and easy day we explore the stunning scenery around the Ostrich capital of the world- Oudtshoorn. We will visit an ostrich show farm and learn all about these big flightless birds and their interesting history. We will also visit the very impressive Cango Caves and do an easy hour walking tour through some of the chambers of the caves. In the afternoon we can sample some of the local wines at an optional wine tasting. Overnight in Oudtshoorn.


Day 11- June 19: The Cape Winelands – Franschhoek

Another beautiful drive this morning along the R62 through the stunning Klein Karoo and into the Cape Winelands. Our destination is the charming and beautiful town of Franschhoek. In the afternoon we can explore the town and relax. Overnight in Franschhoek.


Day 12- June 20: The Cape Winelands

Today we will visit some of the very impressive wine estates of the area and we will include wine tastings at two of these estates. Overnight Franschhoek


Day 13- June 21: Cape Point - Cape Town

Today we will make our way to the famous Cape Point at the tip of the Cape Peninsula. We will take a walk in the National Park and explore the incredible beauty of the area. We will also include a visit to view the Penguin colony at Boulders Beach.


Day 14- June 22: Cape Town Attractions

Today is a free day to explore the many attractions that Cape Town has to offer. There is something for everyone. Possible options are: A trip with the cable car to the top of Table Mountain,  tour of Robben Island (must be booked in advance), a city tour, a tour of the townships, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the many museums around the Company Gardens, the popular V&A waterfront, the wine estates of Constantia, cycle tours, walk the promenade and lots more.


Day 15- June 23: Final Test Match- Cape Town

Morning is free to do more activities and then we meet for lunch and we depart for the 3rd and final test match.


Day 16- June 24: Tour Ends.

Free morning and then in the afternoon a transfer to Cape Town Airport to catch a flight back to London.

 

This tour is priced @ R 38 000 p/p sharing with a minimum of 6 people. A single supplement is available at an extra R5000. It is based on 3 -4 star accommodation in comfortable lodges, chalets and guesthouses on a bed and breakfast basis only.

It includes:

  • All accommodation for 15 nights and 16 days, breakfast included.
  • Tickets to all 3 Test matches between The Boks and England. (Upgrade to a hospitality package for an additional R 3000 p/p per test match)
  • Entrances to all National Parks and activities listed in the itinerary as included.
  • A knowledgeable and qualified English speaking driver- guide for the duration of your journey.
  • A comfortable 8-seater air conditioned vehicle. ( Upgradable to a bigger vehicle for a party of more than seven people.)
  • All transport, fuel and road tolls as per itinerary. Any extra transport can be negotiated.
