Garden Route to Cape Town 

This tour of the Garden Route, Klein Karoo and then down to the stunning city of Cape Town highlights this truly beautiful place on earth. This is not just a whistle stop tour of the Garden Route but a more complete overview with 6 nights in different areas to really uncover all the real hidden gems of the Garden Route. Then we enter the stunning semi desert area of the Klein Karoo and Oudtshoorn to explore the charms, beauty and hospitality of this unique area. Then it is off to Hermanus and Cape Town for whale watching (in season), wine tasting, vineyards, penguins, the Cape Floral Kingdom and not to mention stunning scenery!


Day 1 –Feb 16:  Flight to PE or George and transfer to Storms River

Arrive on flight from Johannesburg in Port Elizabeth or George Airport, Here you will meet your guide and transfer through to Storms River. Depending on time you have the option (at own expense) to enjoy a series of zip lines through a gorge. Overnight Storms river village.


Day 2- Feb 17:  Storms River

Enjoy a full day in the Tsitsikamma National Park hiking through indigenous forest and beautiful rugged coastline to the Storms River mouth and cross over on a suspension bridge. Later you can choose a longer walk to a waterfall (part of the first day’s hike of the famous Otter Trail) or enjoy at your own expense a sea kayak and enter through the mouth of the river into the gorge.  Then you jump onto a lilo to paddle further into the gorge ( Approx R700 ). Day 3 – Feb 18: Natures Valley to Plettenberg bay:

En route to Plettenberg Bay we stop at Natures Valley and enjoy this beautiful area. Option at own expense to canoe on the lagoon towards the sea and have a swim in the ocean. Go for a hike in the forest or along the beach. Option to stop in the Craggs and visit Monkeyland, World of Birds and Tenkwa- a wild cat sanctuary. Lunch in Keurbooms. Transfer to Plettenberg Bay. Guest house in Plettenberg Bay.


Day 4 – 6 – Feb 19, 20, 21:  Knysna & Surrounds:

The Knysna and Plettenberg Bay area are the real gems of the Garden Route. We have 3 full days to explore the real highlights of this area. There is something for everyone from  Ocean safaris to find whales (in season), dolphins and Cape fur seals, hiking, canoeing on the lagoon and on the river, cycle tours ( E-bikes available), horse riding, golf, shopping, wine tasting and exploring Thesen Island, Leisure Island and the Waterfront , lagoon cruises through the famous heads and much more. Your guide will be on hand to give suggestions and plan your day with bookings etc.


Day 7- Feb 22 : Wilderness to the Klein Karoo

We canoe through the wonderful Wilderness National park and go hiking to the waterfall where you can swim in the beautiful natural pools surrounded by waterfalls and natural forest. After lunch we leave the coast and head over the impressive Outeniqua Mountains and into the rugged beauty of the semi desert area of the Klein Karoo. Overnight guest house


 Day 8 –Feb 23:  Oudtshoorn

Oudtshoorn is the ostrich capital of the world in this semi desert area. We visit the beautiful and impressive Cango Caves and visit an Ostrich farm. Overnight guest house near Oudtshoorn.


Day 9 –Feb 24: To Hermanus

Long travel day to Hermanus  (400km) travelling through the stunning scenery of The Klein Karoo along Route 62 and then back down to the coast to the town of Hermanus. Overnight Hermanus.


Day 10 – Feb 25: Hermanus

Full day to explore the beautiful town and nearby Nature reserve. Hermanus is renowned for some of the best land based whale watching in the world (in season) or take an optional boat cruise to try get closer to them. Close by, in the town of Gansbaai, it is possible to go shark cage diving as well. Go walking amongst the beautiful flowers and diversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom. Walk the stunning coastline and beautiful beaches of Hermanus. Overnight guest house in Hermanus


Day 11 – Feb 26: Cape Winelands to Simons Town

Travel the beautiful coastal road from, Hermanus to Gordons Bay and from there we enter the Cape Winelands. An optional visit (and wine tasting) to one of the magnificent and stately wine estates of the area. Then a transfer towards Simons Town in the False Bay area of Cape Town. Overnight Simons Town guesthouse.


Day 12 – Feb 27: Cape Point

 In the morning we visit the penguin colony in Boulders and then a trip to Cape Point to visit the lighthouse and Cape of Good Hope, and a chance to do a hike in the area. Complete the tour of the peninsula by driving the stunning Chapmans peak drive and then down the coast of the Atlantic seaboard. Overnight guest house in Sea Point - Cape Town


Day 13- Feb 28: Cape Town- Tour Ends

 Depending on what time your flight departs, there are options in the morning to do extra activities or exploring. Tour ends return to Johannesburg or elsewhere.

 Or stay an extra day or two in Cape Town to explore. Cape Town has much to offer and there is something for everyone: a visit up Table Mountain on the cable car or walk up, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, bicycle tours, hiking in the surrounding mountains, A visit to Robben Island, wine tasting, shopping at the Waterfront and Africa crafts at the Greenmarket Square, Museums and historical sites, a tour of the city and it’s attractions.
