Day 1: Vic Falls

Fly into Victoria Falls  (Zimbabwe) or Livingstone (Zambia). Do a tour of the Vic Falls in the afternoon.  Time permitting an optional river cruise may be booked. Transfers to lodge and tour of Falls included. Lunch and dinner own expense.


Day 2: Kasane, Chobe National Park – Drive 82km and a border crossing, 2- 3hrs

After breakfast a chance to do an additional activity and then drive through to Kasane in Botswana. In the afternoon we will do a boat cruise on the Chobe river in Chobe National Park and an early morning game drive (on Day 3), where it is possible to view huge herds of elephant coming down to drink as well as many other types of game. For bird lovers the river provides a home for the majestic African Fish Eagle and a number of species of brightly coloured bee-eaters. The area surrounding the Chobe River typically has the highest concentration of wildlife within the park as animals congregate here, particularly in the dry season (April to October). Overnight at lodge in Kasane.  Transfers, ferry and river cruise plus conservation fees all included. Lunch own expense.   ( B, D )

Day 3 & 4:  Popa Falls & Mahango Game Reserve, drive 437km, 5-6hrs

We depart Botswana crossing the border, and head into Namibia through the Caprivi strip to the Popa Falls area and in the afternoon we take a cruise on the river to view the Falls and see animals and birds  in this superb setting. The next day we have the option of doing a full day rafting trip on the river a chance to explore the surroundings for the more adventurous  or alternatively we head out on a traditional full day Namibian Delta experience, which would include a half day mokoro trip into the delta and then an afternoon game drive. There is also the chance to do a nature and or birding walk and a visit to the local village or Bushman village. ( Would like to accommodate you in the unique tree houses if possible.) Game drive and fees for Chobe and River cruise in Popa Falls included.  Day 4 -  choice of full day delta or full day rafting included. Lunch own expense.  ( B, D )   


Day 5: To the Okavango Delta, drive 140km – 4hrs  

We take our time this morning driving through Mahango game reserve, we then cross back into Botswana and drive down the panhandle getting deeper into the Delta. Guma lodge or Drotsky cabins.  Afternoon mokoro trip and Entrance and conservation fees to reserve are included.  Lunch own expense.   ( B, D )

Day 6: Okavango Delta- Botswana

Another full day in the Delta, we enjoy a makoro trip and or a game drive, depending on the water levels. All activities and meals included( B, L , D )

Day 7:  Rundu, Namibia : drive 350km – 5hrs

We depart the Delta and head back into Namibia and the Caprivi strip, retracing our route to the Popa Falls area but then head west. Our destination is Rundu, along the banks of the Okavango river where we relax at our lodge for the afternoon or enjoy an optional activity.  Optional activities  are a boat trip, fishing or meet the locals in a village experience.      ( B , D )

 

Day 8: Etosha Game Park – Drive to Namotoni  430km- 5hrs

 Early departure and a long drive to Etosha National Park, where some of the world’s best wildlife viewing can be found. We should arrive at Etosha, which means the 'Great White Place of Dry Water' in time to do a late afternoon game drive before arriving at our camp where there will be a waterhole for game viewing at night.   Entrance and cons fees to Etosha included. Lunch, dinner at own expense.  ( B )

 

 Day 9:  Etosha National Park, drive 200km- 5 hrs

Today is spent on safari driving through Etosha and exploring the wildlife. We travel through the park from the eastern section through to Anderson gate on the southern side. We arrive at our lodge just outside the park at a family owned lodge on a cattle and game farm. Here we also have the opportunity to view predators up close in a special enclosure on the game farm. This is an optional activity and these animals have been saved from the surrounding wilderness and farms. Safari Included. Breakfast and lunch own expense. ( D )

Day 10: Kamanjab, Himba village experience – Drive 150km , 3hrs

After a leisurely morning we drive west towards the area of Kamanjab, here we do about an hour tour of a Himba village where you get insight into the customs, cultures and beliefs of the Himba people. It is an easy going informal tour where the members of the tribe will show you around their village and you can learn all about their traditional ways. In the evening we will do a very unique game drive to try and find the “shy 5 “, some very secretive and seldom spotted nocturnal animals ie.  aardvark, aardwolf, porcupine, African wildcat and the bat eared fox. Hopefully other sighting could include pangolin, brown hyena, serval, genet, sprighares, owls and other nocturnal creatures. Himba village tour and game drive activities are included.  Lunch own expense.  ( B, D )

Day 11: Twyfelfontein,  – Drive 250km ,  4- 5hrs

In the morning we depart travelling south and our destination is the beautiful Damaraland area . Along route we visit the Petrified Forest national monument, a site of fossilized tree trunks dating from approximately 280 million years ago, and later in the afternoon we visit a UNESCO world heritage site and take a walk amongst maybe the most extensive collection of San (Bushmen) engravings and well preserved ancient rock paintings in all of southern Africa, with over 2500 figures, ranging from 2000-5000 years old. Petrified forest and Bushman paintings  included. Lunch own expense.  ( B, D )

Day 12: Swakopmund – Drive 355km, 4-5hrs

Our next destination is the adrenalin capital of Namibia, Swakopmund . In the afternoon we will explore this charming town and all it has to offer. We also plan and book our activities for the next day. There is something for everyone from high adrenalin activities like; parachuting, dune boarding , quad bike trips, kayak tours in the ocean to see dolphins and other sea creatures,  or something more relaxed like amazing scenic flights over the desert and coastIine, also cycle tours, living desert tours and more.  http://www.livingdesertnamibia.com/  and www.namibiascenicflights.com . Day 13: Swakopmund:

Free day to explore the many attractions and thrill seeking adventures on offer. Flights up the coast or over the desert., parachute jumps, sand boarding down the dunes, quadbikes and more. ( B )

Day 14: To Seriem 350km, 5hrs

A long, spectacular drive through Namib-Naukluft Park to Sesriem via Walvis Bay to see Flamingoes in their thousands. This national park, one of the largest in the world, is home to one of the driest and oldest deserts on earth. It contains some of the finest desert scenery in Africa, if not in the world, with towering jagged rock formations and incredible lunar landscapes.Continue through changing desert landscapes, keeping an eye out for free-roaming zebra, kudu, springbok and oryx. Stop in the quirky town of Solitaire, where we pick up lunch and head out into the countryside. ( B, D )

Day 15: Seriem- Soussevlei

We will leave our lodge before sunrise to spend the morning at the Sossusvlei dunes, one of the great sights of Africa. It's worth getting up to watch the early morning light creep over the dunes before we climb some of the highest sand dunes in the world. Alternatively just enjoy the changing colours on the towering dunes from lower down as the sun rises. We will enjoy a packed breakfast at the dunes. We take a 2km walk into the Hiddenvlei area (optional one way shuttle transfer instead). If we're lucky we may see gemsbok, ostrich or even black-backed jackals among the dunes, an irresistibly photogenic scene! In the afternoon we visit Sesriem Canyon.  All entrance fees and transfers are included.  ( B, D )

 

Day 16: Drive to Windhoek.  374km, 5 hours

In the morning there is potential to do an optional hot air balloon safari. There after drive to Namibia. Catch flight or overnight in Windhoek. Tour ends. ( B )
